A roundup of Devon food festivals

Devon food festivals

We love food, so we particularly love a festival devoted to the celebration of food! Luckily for us, there are plenty of foodie events happening on the doorstep of Blinis this year, so we’re guaranteed to be very happy indeed.

If, like us, you believe food is more than sustenance and share our passion for great taste, here’s a round-up of Devon food festivals that you might want to visit:

Devon food festivals

Sidmouth Sea Fest: 12 May

The Ham, Sidmouth

Sidmouth Sea Fest is an annual coastal celebration with food at its heart. Alongside coastal themed activities, there will be fish cooking skills demonstrations, and plenty of locally caught seasonal fish and other local food to sample and enjoy.

We’ll be joining in with the celebration and will have some extra fish specials on our menu.

River Cottage Spring Food Fair: 27-29 May

River Cottage, Park Farm, Axminster

River Cottage, chef and broadcaster Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s HQ, will be hosting a weekend devoted to food and cooking. The weekend’s activities will include chef demos, artisan food stalls, street food, foraging tours, masterclasses and farmhouse feasts.

Ottery St Mary Food & Families Festival: 2 June

Various venues in Ottery St Mary

The community-organised Ottery St Mary Food & Families Festival celebrates local food, sharing wonderful local producers, products and chefs. The day’s activities will include food demonstrations, workshops, a street market, street food, entertainment, and children’s activities.

Devon Fire and Spice Festival: 18-19 August

Powderham Castle, Kenton

If you like spice, this is the food festival for you! This fiery hot chilli festival features barbecue demonstrations and competitions, plus a chilli cook-off competition, great music, hot spicy food and non-hot foods such as charcuterie, artisan breads, local cheeses, jams, sauces and spice kits.

Powderham Food Festival: 7-8 October

Powderham Castle, Kenton

With over 150 producers selling exciting street food, artisan food, and delicious hot food this autumnal food event is bound to delight your taste buds. There will also be demonstrations from a line-up of the region’s best culinary talents and new this year, a range of masterclasses where you can get hands-on.
